Who Debbie Jordan is
Debbie Jordan is known in UFO literature as the co-author, with researcher Ann Druffel, of the 1994 book Abducted!, in which she describes experiences she attributes to non-human beings. One episode from her account concerns telephone calls rather than visual encounters.
The details below follow the published account by Preston Dennett in FATE Magazine, April 2006, as summarized in The Mystery of the Clicks. They are a witness’s report, not an independently verified record.
What was reported
According to the account, in 1980, while she was pregnant with her second child, Jordan began receiving calls on her analog landline every Wednesday at around three in the afternoon.
She described a constant background noise like heavy machinery, with groans and murmurs on top of it that came close to words but never became them. Her mother and a friend are reported to have answered separate calls and described the same elements, including rhythmic clicking.
The change of number
The most discussed detail is what happened when Jordan changed to an unlisted number she had not given to anyone. According to the account, the calls resumed on the Tuesday after the new line was installed, and she said they sounded angrier.
The calls reportedly lasted for the nine months of the pregnancy and stopped soon after the birth.
How to weigh it
Several points make the account worth reading closely: the regular schedule, the independent descriptions by other listeners, and the researcher who documented the story. Budd Hopkins, an experienced UFO investigator, is reported to have kept the account in his files and to have found no conventional explanation that covered all of its elements.
At the same time, the account rests on testimony. Without call records, recordings or an independent technical examination, it is difficult to rule out misdirected calls, line faults or a person with access to the number. A fair summary holds both thoughts: the report is detailed and consistent, and it remains unverified.
What a good record would include
If you ever receive a call like this, write down the date, time and duration immediately. Ask the carrier for the call detail records, note who else heard it, and record the audio if you can.
Those simple steps turn an experience that can only be retold into evidence that other people can examine.
